Nashihk: The Dr APJ Abdul Kalam International Foundation (AKIF) Opened ‘Centre of Igniting Minds’ an academic center at the Manav Dhan Education Socienty Dhanlaxmi School on Thursday. This is the foundation’s first centre in Maharashtra through which they will promote a series of academic activities in the city.
APJMJ Sheik Saleem , Managing trustee of the foundaiton and grand nephew of Dr Kalam was in the city to launch the centre. He said that the foundation will support academic activities in the Nashik region thorugh this centre.
Our mission is to provide education, skills, knowledge development and promote research aptitude in villages and all the underdeveloped sectors of the nation. We have planned campaigns and activities in order to relize the mission 2020 concept of Dr Kalam.
The main motive behind starting the Nashik centre is to plant the seeds of scientific
tempter in young minds.
The aim of the centre is create Dr APJ Abdul Kalam for the future. We believe that Dr Kalam was not a personality but phenomenon. We motivate students by saying that they
can become the Kalam of any field. The centre will run variety of activities, right from academics and arts to sports.
It has been 3 years since a noble soul departed from our midst. As we solemnly enter into the next phase of keeping up with his dream and the good work that has remained the core of taking forward his legacy, we, on behalf of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam International Foundation (AKIF), celebrated his 87th Birth Anniversary on October 15th 2018 with tremendous fervour at Dilli Haat and NCUI Auditorium, New Delhi.

AKIF along with Dilli Haat organized an event on 14th October under the auspices of the Delhi Government and our Special Chief guest was Shri Ram Niwas Goel- Hon’ble Speaker of Sixth Legislative Assembly of Delhi Assembly. Our Chief Guest was greeted by the by Managing trustee of AKIF APJMJ Shiek Saleem the Grand nephew of Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam. The Assist World Records, World Records Biennale Foundation team displayed around 100 paintings based on the theme “Kindness from Eyes” at Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam memorial at the centre. There was an on the spot Drawing competition and Best quotes for our beloved President conducted for both kids and parents. The winners of the events were honored at the function by our Chief Guest.
NCUI- Auditorium, 15th October-:
In keeping up with the pursuit of making occasions memorable and beneficial, various events at Schools and Colleges have been conducted in and around New Delhi between 1st-12th of October to mark Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam 87th birthday. About 10,000 students participated in various events. The topics touched various subjects from Environment, Farming, Mathematics, Space research and to the current issues such as the Safety of girl child to inculcating the values of Unity in diversity.
We, on behalf of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam International Foundation (AKIF), celebrated his 87th Birth Anniversary on October 15th with a Grand function at NCUI Auditorium, New Delhi.
The function was presided by our Chief Guest Shri D.R.Karthikeyan IPS- Former Director, Central Bureau of Investigation and Director General, National Human Rights commission. Inspirational speeches were rendered by our Chief Guest and other eminent dignitaries, Dr. Anitha Dev, Vice Chancellor, Indira Gandhi University for Women, Dr.Srimathy Kesan- Founder, CEO, Space Kidz India, D.Gokul- ISRO, Dr.Amar Prasad Reddy- Director National Cyber Safety and Security Standards, Mr.Karunakara Reddy- Editor in Chief for Igniting Minds accompanied by our AKIF Managing Trustee’s APJMJ Sheik Dawood and APJMJ Sheik Saleem.
Our Managing Trustee APJMJ Sheik Saleem honored Dr.R.Rajendran- Founder, Assist World Records, World Records Biennale Foundation, for his work towards various Social cause event’s.
Dr. Srimathy Kesan had rendered a scintillating speech about the journey of “Kalamsat “, the 1st ever 3D printed and lightest technology demonstrative Femto Satellite.
The winners and participants of the events were honored at the function by our Chief Guests. The teachers of the respective institution were honoured with momentos by our dignitaries.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Dr A P J Naseema Mariyakar, A P J M J Sheikh Saleem and A P J Sheik Dawood, Trustees of the Foundation said the activities of the Kerala chapter will be inaugurated by Dr A Sivathanupillai, founder and former CEO of BrahMos Aerospace in Kochi on August 11, 2018.
Our beloved People’s President’s Dr.APJ Abdul kalam 3rd remembrance day function turned out to be a day to remember for the students and parents of Ramnad district for the rest of their lives, which was first time of sorts for them!
Held at Goswami Hall on 27th July, it turned out to a full on dedicated show for the student community; true to the spirits of the beloved departed soul graced the occasion.
The highlight of the remembrance day, was the events that preceded the main function, where 6000 students from 25 schools and colleges in Ramnad district participated in various events such as Elocution, Drawing, Essay writing, Craft, Model project etc. The topics touched various subjects from Mathematics, Environment, Farming, Space research to current, such as the Safety of girl child, and inculcating the values of unity in diversity. The wide range of topics touched almost all important aspects and appreciations poured in from all educational institutions for the simplicity and sensitivity of the topics!
600 prize winners were selected and honoured by our Cheif guest in the presence of their parents brimming with pride.
The day also saw the inauguration of “Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam Centre for Igniting Minds” in many schools. The centre is an ode to the late President’s enthusiasm in shaping young minds and to develop scientific temperament.
The event was a grand success in all aspects and the House of Kalam is overwhelmed with the response and cooperation of the educational institutions. Together, a productive path is laid for a beautiful journey in the quest for knowledge and in the shaping of responsible citizens of our beloved country.

The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North-Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s ‘New India’ will actually redeem Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s ‘Vision 2020’. He was delivering Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial Lecture here today. On the occasion, the Minister also gave away Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial Awards to the bureaucrats for working in public interest.While delivering the lecture, Dr Jitendra Singh said that being associated with Dr APJ Abdul Kalam is a learning and hugely inspiring experience. He said that his public and private image had no contradiction. It requires huge amount of introspection and self-evaluation to be true to yourself, he added. The Minister also spoke about the scientific temper of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. He said that ‘Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Center for Policy Research and Analysis’ was launched by Ministry DoNER in October 2016 at the Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management (RGIIM), Shillong.Dr Jitendra Singh said that ‘Vision 2020’ is not only a numerical vision, but actually a vision of ‘New India’ also envisaged by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He said that Prime Minister’s New India will actually redeem Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s ‘Vision 2020’.The members of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam International Foundation and senior bureaucrats were also present on the occasion.Other speakers, including Shri D.R. Kathikeyan former Director General, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and Shri S. M. Khan, then Press Secretary to the President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, also shared their experiences of working with Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
